Diesel fuel spilled on Coal River Road

Coal River Volunteer Fire Department and Raleigh County sheriff’s deputies responded early Monday morning to a truck leaking diesel fuel following an accident on Coal River Road near Lloyd’s Convenience Store.
Marshall Miller and Associates sent a spill response team to the accident, which occurred about 6 a.m. The team spent two hours cleaning up nearly 50 gallons of diesel fuel that had leaked into the ground near the road.
Danny Mullins, regional spill coordinator for Marshall Miller, said all the fuel was cleaned up before it leaked into a nearby stream. The team excavated all the dirt contaminated by the fuel and removed it from the scene.
Details on the cause of the accident were unavailable Monday from the sheriff’s department.
